I have started a part-time Heraldic Design Course. I've loved Heraldry for years, and I finally decided to commit to learning how to do it properly. I live in an ancient Medieval Town in England; we have found actual cannon balls and other historical artefacts in our back garden. Our environments inevitably infuse themselves in us and shape our work. It's a super-traditional course, with long-established rules written in Anglo-Norman governing everything from proportions to the Tinctures (colours) of Griffin's tongues and claws. Getting out the pencils and paints and being a student again has been fun. Here is some recent work, which I will post regularly on my Heraldic Beast account on Instagram.
