I am pleased to announce the release of my new mini-print, Memento Mori.
'Memento Mori' is Latin for 'Remember that you [have to] die'. There's something about Latin that conveys a sense of timelessness, which I like. The adage might be considered morbid, but the phrase is really about life; it's about time. A reflection on the precious and finite nature of our lives — a reminder to live life to the fullest. The heraldic roses symbolise love and vitality, and the skull and raven represent death.
As with 'Carpe Diem' (of which I will pre-release a new Midnight Blue edition simultaneously), I've drawn from many influences, including Victorian Memorials and Medieval Cathedral Inscriptions. The letterforms are all bespoke — warm Lombardic Capitals paired with a Textura lowercase. The aim was to develop something sumptuously Gothic, sensual, majestic and rich.
This mini-print is available now in two colourways: Gold on Frost White and Gold on Black. The prints measure 188mm x 112 mm (approximately 7.4 X 4.4 inches.) and have been exquisitely die-stamped in gold ink. They are both editions of 130 and have been initialled and numbered by the artist.
The print will ship worldwide around the 9th of October.
